too much stuff to mention

It's out of hand. Moving, building, demolishing, reconfiguring. Nobody would build their own house if they knew about some of this stuff.

Positive things that stand out:
- The stair railing. It looks flippin' awesome.
- The shed. Again, awesome. Who knew a shed could be awesome?
- The stairs themselves. They make the house. Bravo Paul and team.
- The tile. Thank you, gruff Eastern European tile man of few words. You are making our house incredible.
- The white. Who-hoo! It's amazingly white in there. Just wait until we more in and dirty it up. ;-)

Here are some photos:

Negative things that stand out:
- Packing
- Moving
- Being nomads

Oh well. It's only 3 more weeks.

Lake Oswego forever!

Or at least for a couple of weeks.

Well, we no longer live in Milwaukie. We are staying with Betsy until we can move into the house. Maybe 3 weeks? (Please God, let it only be three weeks--we are dying to be in the new house.)

Lots of things are happening:
- stair railings
- trim painting
- tiling
- shed roofing
- vanity cabinet and countertop building (go Greg!)
- closet door painting

I've taken a bunch of photos but they are on my phone. I'll upload and share at some point. Until then, just imagine an emerging masterpiece.

Ruh-Roh

We found out today that we need to be out of our old house by 6/30 as opposed to sometime in July.

Oh wow. That is soon. Better get on that, huh?

Thwacking, schmacking, I hate...

Do you know how difficult it is to pack up 10 years of stuff accumulated by a family of 4 including 1 collector? Heavy sigh.

Greg's been an animal all week, packing everything he can get his hands on. I have helped with the packing this weekend while I'm in town between 2 business trips. Much of the upstairs is packed but the real challenges -- basement and garage -- lie ahead.

We're supposed to be able to move in starting July 14th, which is only 5 weeks away. Better start hurrying, eh?

In addition to packing, we're also preparing for a ginormous garage sale, tentatively slated for Saturday 6/25. Want some mid-century goodies? Swing on by the old house. We'll be there unloading mid-century belongings by the boxful.

Junebug

This June promises many, many activities that are likely to bug us (or at least stress me out). We just mapped out our June calendar. There are 26 items on it. 26 distinct house things that need to be done before we are appraisal-ready. And I'm sure there are things that we've forgotten.

26.

Doh!

I'm tired already.

But in July, we move in!

Wood floors, migrating kitchen

Hardwood floor installation starts next week, soon to be followed by re-finishing of the wood floors on the kids' level.

Our kitchen countertop in the old house is removed on Wednesday. It goes into storage while we move the cabinets, and then makes a triumphant return. Wait...how in the heck will we eat for 3 weeks? ;-)

Here's the kitchen countertop in its original environment:

We now enter the Zone of Insanity.
