Shop! Nice, eh?

Sunny day, sweeping the clouds away...

It's remarkable what some sun and warmth can do for your attitude. Oh, and some brand-spanking new drywall, paint and balcony railing.

Massive progress has been made. We have walls! Walls, people.

Did I mention how nice the house looks when the sun is shining?

Feeling kinda blue (the good kind)

The house is blue! An oh-so-subtle shade of blue. I have mentally dubbed it "air". Love, love, love it. Love.

Also, pieces of our stairway are going into the house.

And...we now have a railing on our balcony.

It's almost too much for words. Andrew, you are my hero of the week (well, at least so far).

Doors, siding & sun

We actually had some sun this weekend. Boy has that been a long time coming...

We have interior doors at the house; a few were hung late week. Siding is almost done. Here's a flickr album that shows some recent pics:

We now have siding on the FRONT OF THE HOUSE.

UPDATED (more pics): Siding is on the house!

Actual siding is going up. Who-hoo! It looks very chic and grey...and definitely metallic. There will be no mistaking it for wood siding. We are capital M - Modern now.

We are in over our heads...

Or at least we are craaaazy busy.

Stream-of-consciousness update: windows, siding prep, tile picking, carpet ordering, doorknob picking, electric, plumbing, sinks and bathtubs, hardwood bids, insulation decisions, exterior lighting, interior lighting.

Coming up next: rough-in inspections on electric and plumbing, neighbor open house,

drying out house, insulation, drywall, siding, exterior painting. Oh, we have to pick out exterior paint color(s). Holy moly.

Andrew/Paul/Ryan, thanks for all of your help. We have to be nearing the halfway point, right? ;-)

Mid-March Madness

We've been making a lot of progress on things, but the house "look" hasn't changed much in a couple of weeks. I'll post some recent pics soon. In the mean time, we've finalized plans and hired subs for the following.

• Insulation (ecobatt plus 1 inch spray foam)
• Drywall (typical)
• Some finish framing
• Some of the flooring (HW on main, carpet on bedroom wings, tile in bathrooms)
• Much of the finish plumbing

In theory, we're ready for rough-in inspections on plumbing and electric next week (fingers crossed). And siding is going up soon...next week?

Insanity.

Better idea of exterior look and feel

Here's a new rendering of the house. The dark metal siding color (upper part) is set, and we're planning on a moderately light, moderately neutral color for the main/lower house. We're still trying to figure out where to put some color accent(s).

Color stalemate

Oh, and in case you were wondering why I didn't update on the selection of siding and window colors, it's because Greg and I are deadlocked on the siding color. Greg wants medium cool grey and I want medium-dark warm grey. You'd think we were trying to decide on the name of our child or something. This could take a while...

Colors

Heading to a meeting today to pick out the color of the metal siding and the windows. Yay! Then we can start to talk about the colors of the other siding and the painted brick.
