Bright lights, Chengdu city

We went out to a historic shopping district in Chengdu last night. Saw some amazing sights and a show with traditional dancers, including a "changing faces" dance that's drawn from the regional opera. And ate some locale fare including spicy hot dumplings in chili oil and kung pao chicken (the real deal).

I can't stay and chat because pandas await today. For now, here are some pretty pictures.

Depends on the importance of the word "the"

I think our house is now officially called "Leedy House." Or perhaps "The Leedy House." Hmm...do you think the "The" makes us look fat? Or just a little silly? Kind of like the way "The" makes "The Dalles" silly?

In closing, did you know that the area just West of The Dalles is a part of town called "West The Dalles"? Really. You can look it up. Oh here, I'll do it for you.

Almost famous

Now we must start hanging art. And cleaning. And hiding things that are hideous to the eye.

Sunny day, sweeping the clouds away...

It's remarkable what some sun and warmth can do for your attitude. Oh, and some brand-spanking new drywall, paint and balcony railing.

Massive progress has been made. We have walls! Walls, people.

Did I mention how nice the house looks when the sun is shining?
